Clinical Services, Evaluations and Suicide Prevention
Dr. Mitch Samet is a New York State licensed psychologist and certified School Psychologist in private practice, with offices in both Pleasantville and Rye, NY. Dr. Samet has over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and families. In private practice, Dr. Samet provides both clinical, assessment and consultation services to school-age clients and their families.
His philosophy is to help individuals understand their unique patterns of cognitive, academic and social/emotional strengths and challenges, and to unlock those strategies needed to help each person perform as happy and productive members of their school, community and family. Dr. Samet provides individual counseling support through a variety of pragmatic techniques and clinical modalities. He also provides consultation regarding school performance and placement, counseling support to couples and families, and parent training.

Suicide Prevention Training
- Dr. Samet developed a suicide prevention training entitled Helping Students At-Risk For Suicide: Assessment, Intervention and Follow-Up for School Based Practitioners
- The training has been provided to several thousand practitioners across NY state, the US and internationally.
- Dr. Samet is still doing monthly trainings for the NYS Office of Mental Health: Suicide Prevention Center of NY
- In 2021 we published an article in a prestigious national journal, the School Psychology Review, on the efficacy of the HSAR training.
- In 2019 Dr. Samet co-authored A Guide For Suicide Prevention In New York Schools, considered a seminal how-to guide for school-based suicide prevention.
- Dr. Samet has presented numerous workshops on suicide prevention and intervention at state conferences, NY City Dept of Education, Suicide Prevention Center of NY conferences and local Westchester County Psychological Association training workshops.
- In 2023 Dr. Samet was promoted to Co-Chair of the NY State Suicide Prevention Task Force, part of the state Office of Mental Health.
