About Mitch Samet


Dr. Mitch Samet is a New York State licensed psychologist and certified School Psychologist in private practice, with offices in both Pleasantville and Rye, NY. Dr. Samet has over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and families. In private practice, Dr. Samet provides both clinical, assessment and consultation services to school-age clients and their families. His philosophy is to help individuals understand their unique patterns of cognitive, academic and social/emotional strengths and challenges, and to unlock those strategies needed to help each person perform as happy and productive members of their school, community and family. Dr. Samet provides individual counseling support through a variety of pragmatic techniques and clinical modalities. He also provides consultation regarding school performance and placement, counseling support to couples and families, and parent training.

Dr. Samet has worked in a variety of school settings with elementary, middle school and high school students. In school, Dr. Samet has conducted thousands of psychological evaluations, been a CSE and Section 504 Chairperson, a clinical team coordinator and a supervising psychologist. As a result, he has participated in and chaired thousands of CSE and Section 504 meetings. He is also an adjunct graduate professor in school psychology, specializing in cognitive and personality assessment. In addition, Dr. Samet is an executive board member at the NY Association of School Psychologists.
